Call for Papers:
CAMOS, the
Committee for the Analysis of Military Operations and
Strategy, invites submissions for a CAMOS-sponsored panel proposal for
the 2007 International Biennial Conference of the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and
Society. The
meeting will be held at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago, Illinois
from October 26-28, 2007
In accordance with CAMOS' mandate, panel proposals should address
issues of military operations and strategy, broadly defined. In light
of IUS' promotion of cross-national and comparative research, proposals
that address military and operations and strategy from cross-national
and comparative perspectives will be of particular interest.
Proposals should conform to IUS guidelines. The IUS call for papers is
available at http://www.camosnet.org/IUS.pdf.
(IUS-specified topics of interest include: terrorism and
counter-terrorism; area studies and cross-national analyses of military
institutions; global coalitions and cross-national alliances; post-Cold
War military analyses; civil-military relations; and social and
personnel issues.)
IUS prefers a presenter format -- in which a designated presenter
summarizes and critiques the papers followed by comments from the
authors -- rather than the conventional format of presentations by
authors followed by a discussant. Panel proposals should indicate
whether they follow a presenter or discussant model.
Also, IUS guidelines state that proposals with more than five papers
will be rejected.
(Proposals previously submitted for consideration for the CAMOS panel
at the 2007 APSA Annual Meeting may also be considered for IUS. Notify
Michael Lipson that you would like the proposal considered for both.
There is no need to re-send the proposal.)
Please submit proposals by January 30, 2007 to:
